A well-known social entrepreneur and member of Swat’s royal family, Mussarat Ahmed Zeb joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with her two sons on Wednesday.

“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is the only party of hope for the entire country. I, after consulting my family members, decided to join the PTI,” Mussarat said during a press conference at her residence in Saidu Sharif.

“I will work tirelessly to bring positive change in this country under the leadership of Imran Khan,” she promised. According to the princess, the country is on the verge of collapse due to the wrong policies of politicians.

She maintained it was the right time to join PTI to promote the safety and betterment of the country. “All the patriotic people must join Imran Khan in his mission. I have not joined the party to get a ticket for the elections. I will serve both the party and this country as a mere party worker.”

District and provincial office bearers of PTI, including provincial vice president Fazal Hakim and district president Dr Amjad, were also present on the occasion.

A political analyst in Swat considered Ahmed Zeb’s addition a big achievement for the PTI in Swat. “The party will get stronger as the lady is well-reputed in the field of social work.”

Mussarat Ahmed Zeb married Miangul Ahmed Zeb in 1976. Her husband was the son of the last ruler of the princely state of Swat, Miangul Jahan Zeb. The new PTI member runs ‘Ladore’, a vocational centre which teaches traditional embroidery to women in Swat.
