A man and his six-year-old son were killed in a remote controlled bomb explosion in City Chowk, Bannu, on Tuesday. Eighteen people, including two constables, were also injured.
According to District Police Officer Waqar Khan, the blast occurred near a tonga stand, approximately 100 metres away from the Cantonment police station. Apparently, a police van returning to the station was the target.
Inspector Gul Nawaz said the bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked by unidentified militants.
The father and son – later identified as Nawaz Khan and Shahab Ahmad – were on their way back home and were killed on the spot.
On the same day, an explosion in the Pabbi tehsil of Nowshera injured seven people, including two children and a woman.
According to DSP Waqar Khan, the explosion occurred in Mohallah Khan Khel, near Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain’s house. (With additional reporting by Zulfiqar Ali)
