KARACHI: Left-hander Abdul Saad scored an impressive ton as Navy defeated Customs by 125 runs in the opening match of the Qualifier Cricket League 2012 yesterday.

The event is being organised with an aim to provide an opportunity for teams to prepare for the upcoming Patrons Trophy Grade-II Cricket Tournament and every match carries marks for batting, bowling and fielding.

Navy, who took 28 points, opted to bat first and posted 292 for six in 50 overs. Saad made 103 off 116 with two sixes and 11 boundaries while Owais Rehmani made a 73-ball 87. Jahangir Shah chipped in with 52 with seven strikes to the fence.

In reply, Customs bundled out for 167 in 39.4 overs. Haris Khan top-scored with 71 while Razaul Hasan claimed four wickets. The losing team was rewarded only six points.
