Zardari to simultaneously announce dissolution of assemblies, election dates

Cabinets will also dissolve on the night between March 15 and 16.

President Asif Ali Zardari will announce the dissolution of assemblies once the constitutional time allotted has ended, reported Express News.  

According to a draft notification obtained by Express News, the President will simultaneously  announce the date for next elections based on the advice of the Prime Minister.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will also be requested to make all necessary arrangements for conducting general elections in the country.

The official notification is due to be issued at midnight, between March 15 and 16.

In case there is a disagreement between the central government and provincial bodies, provinces will be removed from the election schedule draft.

According to the constitution, the President has the sole authority of setting the date of elections.

Cabinets are also expected to be dissolved on the night between March 15 and 16.

Provincial assemblies should not be allowed to linger, disagreement or not, they should be dissolved at the same time.

@m omar Don't be surprised if you do; it's known as the "Stockholm syndrome." (A case where hostages, after a sufficiently long duration, begin to develop empathy towards their captors.)
