ISLAMABAD: Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Peter Heyward said on Monday that Australian vocational training institutes may be established in Pakistan for promoting technology. Heyward said: “The institutes would help developing business and investment opportunities in the private sector and strengthening bilateral relationship, which will allow the trading partners from Pakistan to increase access to Australian markets, providing opportunities to increase exports and promote Pakistan.” He was speaking during the current year’s first meeting of the Pakistan-Australia Business Council here on Monday. He informed the meeting that Australia has opened its visa office in Karachi and has streamlined the process to facilitate the business community. Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Shirani, president of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, in his welcome address emphasised the need for more interaction between the business communities of the two countries. Shahid Vaseem, chairman Pak-Australia Business Council, suggested the up-gradation of the council to Joint Business Council status.
