Addressing an event in Peshawar on Saturday, he said, “When we were building the first Shaukat Khanum, we needed Rs170 million. There was a lot of pressure, hence I decided to quit cricket and focus on the hospital. But the board of directors of Shaukat Khanam Hospital convinced me that if I’ll quit cricket, how we will collect money for the hospital.”
Recalling the 1992 World Cup victory, he said that they won the World Cup because of the motivation to build the hospital. “In the speech, after we won the Cup, my mind was entirely focused on the hospital and I forgot to thank the team members who had put so much effort in the game,” he reminisced.
Imran opened the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore in 1994. His mother, who was a cancer patient, had inspired him to build a hospital solely for treating cancer patients.

As per my communication with young doctors of KPK ... they are rating SKMH KPK project much more then recent Laptop scheme and Metro bus in Lahore ...
This should be front page news. Here we have million of dollars waster on Metro Bus and meanwhile Imran Khan is making a cancer hospital out of donations.
There is only one way to thank this great human being (Sir Imran Khan) and that is to vote for his party, please bring him to power and in shah ALLAH, you will see how he will change the Pakistan.
And yet people continue to question his intentions and sincerity with his people and country! Come elections this May please vote for Imran Khan and PTI.

Im just wondering.that.he has.achieved so much.while.being.not.in.govt. Imagine what he can do when we.give.him thru.reigns. He's no.only.honest.but.capable, has.a.vision for the.country and talks.about.solutions.rather.than repeating.problems. I.would.vote.for.him for any one of these qualities.
God please take my remaining years of life and give these to Imran ... i am father of two a small businessman in my early thirties because i think if he can serve this country for 10 years i think my children can have better future.
A wonderful news. Pekhawar has a huge potential to become a regional hub for medical services, not only for locals Pukhtuns but also from Afghanistan and people of Central Asian countries. After all it was a trade route and hub for thousands of years in the past.

Superb decision. Many many patients of cancer had to come hundreds of kms away to Lahore for treatment, but now they would be treated in their home city.
