The Afghan government will be offering monetary compensation to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the Kirani Road terrorist attack, said Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Omer Dawoodzai.
On February 16, a bomb targeting the Shia Hazaras in a packed bazaar killed 64 people and wounded 180 others. The incident attracted wide international condemnation.
“Each heir of the deceased would be given 100,000 afghanis, while the injured would be given 50,000 afghanis,” announced the envoy, during a visit to Quetta to meet the bereaved relatives on Thursday.
Omer said that he was in Quetta on the special directives of President Hamid Karzai, and he read out a written condolence message from him to the aggrieved families. “The Afghan government equally shares the sorrow with the refugees no matter what ethnicity they belong to - whether they are Pashtun, Uzbek or Turkmen as all those belonging to Afghanistan are equally important for us.”
The Afghan president’s message also announced the compensation amount for the dependants of the victims.
Furthermore, the Afghan emissary also called on Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, asking him to provide better medical care for the injured. He said that most of the victims were residents of Ghazni province in Afghanistan.

Hazaras are always been simple and sincere where ever they lived. There are some Afghan Hazara refugees in Pakistan and they may get support for Afghan government. Although this sort of support never happened in Afghanistan towards the Hazaras from the Afghan government but at least they are trying.
Pakistani and Afghan Hazaras living in Pakistan never involved in any thing that would harm the Pakistan establishment. The family of victims will accept support from any one as are in desperate need and they need survive and they lost their bread winners.
Hazaras are proud for their loyalty in any country they live!
@Hazara
Your post is not entirely accurate. Pakistan came into being in 1947 not in 1876.
Dear All! Just want to say Baloch, pashtun and Hazaras are inhabitant of both countries,Quetta became part of pakistan in 1876,Most of Hazaras and pashtun are here since then but few victim of blast were afghan nationals living as refugees and the cheques were given to latest hazara refugees of Soviet invasion in Quetta.Afghan refugees are settled in many pakistani cities including Islamabad but they are not having pakistani nationality.
@IffiJiggar: Each consulate has their flags UP in their offices. So this function was at Afghans consulate. I want to ask you that why dont you ask Baloch Extrimists who dont even put Pakistani flags in the schools who dont play National Anthem of Pakistan in the Schools in Baloch Areas.
I want to ask you that why Mahajir is living in Karachi while the are truely mahajir.
@Tinkerbell: The checks were given to Afghan Nationals only who dont own Pakistan passports. I want to memorize you that Hazaras are the most patriotic people of Pakistan. Many Hazaras served in British Army and actively participated in Indenpendance of Pakistan. When Quaid e Azam died no one was there to prepare grave for him and then Hazaras Stood and made all the arrangments. General Musa, Hazara tribe, was the hero of 1965 war. Many Hazaras gave sacrifices to save this country in every wars of Pakistan. Today many Hazaras are serving in govt organizations to contribute their role in the development of Country. But for all these what we are getting in return? Just and only Hazara Genocide. We only want peace in this country so that we can live our lives safe and contribute for our country Pakistan. Pls stop spreading Hatred.
FYI I can bet that no Pakistani can claim that they were the aboriginals, all of Pakistanis are migrants, some of them came earlier some of them later.
@ Iffi Jiggar, better we appreciate kind and humanly act of Afghan Govt. instead of creating doubts about of loyalty of Hazaras. Most of Hazaras living in Baluchistan are not Afghan Mohajirs, Ex. Commander-in-Chief of Pak Army and Governor West Pakistan as well as Baluchistan Gen. Musa Khan was a Hazara. There are many other prominent names among Hazara community who are respected. It will be good if we disgust savages involved in the ruthless killings of Hazaras and Shia community and others.
Thank you Hamid Karzai and the Afghan govt. You have shown yourself a friend indeed. It seems Afghanistan is rising towards a prosperous, secular and tolerant future while Pakistan is sinking into the abyss of racial and religious violence
“The Afghan government equally shares the sorrow with the refugees no matter what ethnicity they belong to – whether they are Pashtun, Uzbek or Turkmen as all those belonging to Afghanistan are equally important for us.”
So this statement means that Afghan government will do every effort to stop integration of all the above mentioned groups in Pakistani Society and as a result Heterogeneous society will emerge that will not be able to integrate in future in Pakistan and as a result strained relations will emerge in future in our country. Pakistani Government should be wary of all of these situations where any country will try to undermine the integration as their future children will consider them non Pakistanis and could not took any active part is Progress of Pakistan. I recently visited Karachi and i came to the conclusion that apart from Urdu Speakers and some of the Integrated Punjabis and Sindhis no one want to Own Karachi and as a result situation is in Doldrums while Homogenization in Lahore is leading to the owning of Lahore and that city is progressing than than afore mentioned one. Our government should make a new Rule that Either Own Pakistan and your region or leave this country for some other land from where you belong and this is the only way forward for the progress of our country.
foreigners are paying the Pakistani citizens for growing fruits of democracy." Democracy is the best revenge"
Just out of curiosity looked at the conversion rates of Afghan currency to USD. Afghan currency is almost equal to Indian rupee or nearly double that of Pakistan rupee. 100,000 Afghani is USD 1,881.
