Disaster averted: Bomb defused in busy national park

SWABI: A high-intensity bomb hidden in a pressure cooker was defused in Kund Park, Swabi on Friday. An official of the Chota Lahor police, Fayaz Khan said the Kund National Park administration informed the police around 9am that an explosive device, planted in a crowded area of the park, had been spotted by an employee. Khan added a heavy contingent of police rushed to the site and surrounded the area. The bomb disposal squad defused the home-made explosive. “If it had exploded, many lives would have been lost,” said the official. Eight kilogrammes of high-intensity explosives were packed in the pressure cooker.
