Women’s cricket: Sajjida, Ayesha lead Sindh to victory

Balochistan lose by two wickets in Twenty20 event.

KARACHI: Off-spinner Sajjida Shah claimed three wickets while Ayesha Zafar made an unbeaten 27 to steer Sindh to a narrow two-wicket win against Balochistan in their second Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Women Cricket Challenge Trophy match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore yesterday.

Batting first, Balochistan were restricted to 101 for nine despite Nahida Khan Bibi playing well for her unbeaten 37 off 41 balls with three boundaries. Sajjida bowled well to concede just 11 runs for her scalps while Ramim Shamim and Kainat Imtiaz took managed to take two wickets apiece.

In reply, Sindh initially faced problems in chasing the target but Ayesha, who was named player-of-the-match, took them home as they finished at 105 for eight. Aiman Anwar chipped in with 24, hitting three boundaries in the process. Kalsoom Hanif of Balochistan took three wickets each.
