Sabotage: Power supply remains suspended to Bannu villages

Unidentified militants disabled five transmission towers with sharp blades in Cantonment area of Bannu.

Electricity remained suspended on Saturday after unidentified militants disabled five transmission towers with sharp blades in Cantonment area of Bannu on Friday midnight.


An official of the cantonment police, Rukhsar Khan said electricity supply to Frontier Region Bannu and various other villages in the district was disrupted. The official added that culprits cut off the towers and didn’t take them away as a result of which power supply was suspended to many area including Mamas Khel, Bakka Khel, Azad Mandi, Dheri Kallay, Daud Shah Kallay and Bannu Airport.

Pesco officials will start work to restore the electricity on Monday. They tried to provide power to the villages from an alternate line, but they could not supply electricity due to official holidays.

On January 27, three pylons were cut by unidentified militants with sharp blades in Bannu city, disconnecting electricity to more than five villages of the district.

Earlier on January 15, unknown culprits destroyed three transformers by planting explosives near the pylons in cantonment.
