KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has refuted speculations about growing rift in the party over Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan.

After the rupture in the coalition between MQM and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on February 14, provincial and federal ministers belonging to the party tendered their resignations.

Soon after, the rumour mill began to spin, with people speculating that differences had emerged between MQM chief Altaf Hussain and Ebad over the issue of the governor’s resignation.

The Coordination Committee, however, has denied all such claims. “There is no truth in rumours.

A press statement issued by the committee said, “There is no truth in the rumours that MQM leader Altaf Hussain no longer wants Ebad to be the governor.”

The committee said that Ebad enjoys full support of the MQM chief and all decisions, including the resignation of the governor, are taken collectively by the party.
