ISLAMABAD: During a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), MNA Riaz Fatayana announced his resignation from the political party, reported Express News on Tuesday.

Fatayana clarified that he will not be joining any other political party.

“This is not new, the party has been aware of my decision”, he said.

The MNA's resignation came after the PML-Q’s decision to not allocate Fatayana the post of minister.

His reservations relating to the political party date back to June, 2012 when his residence in Kamaliya was attacked during power related riots.

“The attack at my house was the result of a well-conceived conspiracy. I had already informed the local police that some elements wanted to assassinate me,” Fatayana said, while talking to media last June.

The PML-Q lawmaker also alleged that the brother of Justice (retd) Khalilur Rehman Ramday had been the architect of the plot.

Fatayana demanded action against miscreants involved in the attack on his residence. However, the investigations did not reach a substantial conclusion.

Stating that his resignation decision was final, he went on to say “No one helped from the party when my house was attacked”.

Fatayana joins the list of resigned party members such as former federal privatization minister Ghous Bux Mehar who had tendered resignation from the party leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) in November, 2012.
