KARACHI: Allrounder Anwar Ali took four wickets to put Karachi Blues in firm control on day two of their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy five-day final against Sialkot.

Sialkot, who started the day at 139 for four, were bowled out for 229.

Test batsman Ayub Doggar played a solid hand of 72 off 200 balls with 10 strikes to the fence, while Majid Jehangir made 54. Tariq Haroon and Azam Hussain chipped in with two wickets apiece to support Ali.

In reply, Blues started well with openers Fakhar Zaman and Khurram Manzoor putting up a 59-run partnership, despite the expensive Kookaburra ball being changed in just the fifth over as it lost its shape.

Blues ended the day at 89 for two. Fakhar was dismissed after making a stylish 34, while Khurram was unbeaten on 23. Bhatti and Ali Khan claimed the wickets.
