Ending hunger: Food security policy draft finalised

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Food Security & Research (NFSR) has finalised a draft national food and nutrition security policy to counter food insecurity in the country. A consultative workshop on National Food and Nutrition Security Policy was held here on Wednesday to seek recommendations from stakeholders. Organised by NSFR, input was taken on the core objective of the finalised policy draft, which is to reduce the current food insecurity situation by 50 per cent by 2030 and to bring down poverty and food insecurity to zero by 2050. Public Accounts Committee Chairman Nadeem Afzal Chan was the chief guest, while NSFR Secretary Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri, World Food Programme country representative Jean-Luc Siblot, and the provincial secretaries for Agriculture, Livestock and Food also attended.
