BANNU: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Monday defused a high-intensity bomb planted by a roadside in Bannu. An official of Mandan police, Imran Khan, said at around 7am a resident of Barat informed the police he had spotted a bomb by a road. Khan said the police rushed to the site, cordoned it off and informed BDS in charge Wasal Khan. The official added the team struggled for an hour to defuse the bomb and finally succeeded. “Around 20 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the device. If it had exploded it would have caused a lot of devastation,” Khan said. On Saturday, an elite force personnel was gunned down in Barat during a sting operation by security forces and the police. A suspected militant was killed and six of his aides were arrested. Two IEDs were also recovered from his house.

After every major incident our security forces become active and always remain successful to foil few terror activities and arrest some suspects, but only after such MAJOR ATTACKS that take so many lives already.
