Squash: Aamir, Nasir move into semis

Aamir now faces Egypt’s Andrew Wagih Shoukry and Nasir will face top seed Mohammad Ali Anwar Reda.

KARACHI: In a battle between siblings, Aamir Atlas Khan defeated former champion Danish Atlas Khan 3-1 to claim a place in the semi-finals of the fifth Kish Persian Gulf Cup at the Kish Olympic Sports Center.

It was the third Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour meeting between the sons of the former Pakistan pro Atlas Khan as Aamir beat his brother 11-4, 11-9, 10-12, 12-10 in just under half-an-hour.

Aamir now faces Egypt’s Andrew Wagih Shoukry, the third-seed, who beat Pakistan’s Aqib Hanif in straight sets with scores of 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.

The other last-four clash will also be played between Pakistan-Egypt players after Nasir Iqbal upset India’s fourth-seeded Harinder Pal Sandhu in an emphatic 3-0 victory.

Iqbal will now face top seed Mohammad Ali Anwar Reda.
