Martin Skrtel says Liverpool are relishing the prospect of new signing Daniel Sturridge returning to action for Liverpool when they face Swansea at Anfield today.
The forward missed the Reds’ last league match against West Brom due to injury but was declared fit for the clash against the Swans by the Merseyside club on Friday.
“I think Daniel has skill, quality and strength,” Skrtel told Liverpoolfc.com. “He’s proved he can help the team.
“With him, our attacking strength is much higher. He links with Luis Suarez and with Steven Gerrard and he is a real danger for every defender he faces. He will help us to get the three points.”
Rodgers slams Premier League over fixtures
Meanwhile, Rodgers also criticised the Premier League for the scheduling of today’s match at Anfield.
This weekend’s fixture means Liverpool will play three times in a week after losing to top-flight rivals West Brom 2-0 on Monday and going down by the same scoreline away to Zenit St Petersburg in the first leg of their last 32 Europa League clash on Thursday.
“I was disappointed with the Premier League to be honest,” he said. “I think it is another example of the Premier League not helping teams whatsoever.
“For us, to have it thrown in there when there were other free weeks was bemusing.”
