Perhaps, as a result of this, and due to his resentment of the culture of sifarish, he was recently denied promotion, and young doctors who are easily 20 years his junior with little professional experience were promoted in his place, from Grade 18 right into Grade 20. In addition, many senior officers are eagerly waiting for his retirement so they can push their sons up through the hierarchy.
I hope that we learn, sooner or later, to take care of those few valued civil servants who work every day to change people’s lives. Heroes are born in every nation; successful nations know how to recognise them.

Thanks for your support. The truth is, if a person has dedicated the cream of his professional years to a government department, the least he expects in return is recognition, which is more valuable to him than remuneration. My father was the one who always taught us the values of nationhood, respect for the motherland and pride in our identity, and sad that he was the one who suffered the most of this country's bureaucracy. We were lucky enough to escape the disappointment that young Pakistanis face in the Pakistan of today, and yet, I would count my father more patriotic than me and a Pakistani I would like to become one day. There are countless stories like this in today's Pakistan, lets hope we learn from our mistakes and value our nations treasures which are its people. Usman

Sifarishi culture can bring down a nation. When you have incompetent people running government departments, it doesn't take too long for them to become a mess.
Heard of 'Gresham's Law'? Its a law of money that undervalued money disappears from the market. I think it also apply to the population and migration of decent citizens. I hope you folks, too, migrate out of Pakistan.
