Squash: Aamir moves into quarter-finals in Iran

Amir will now take on his younger brother Danish Atlas.

KARACHI: The opening day of the Kish Persian Gulf was dominated by Pakistan players as four of them moved into the quarter-finals of the competition at the Kish Olympic Sports Centre in Iran yesterday.

Second-seed Aamir Atlas Khan played a tough match against Jordan’s Ahmed Al-Saraj, but defeated him in straight sets with scores of 11-9, 11-9 and 12-10 in 51 minutes.

Amir will now take on his younger brother Danish Atlas, who beat Abdulla Mohd al Tamimi 11-7, 11-7 and 11-8.

In another match, Aqib Hanif went through to the last eight as he defeated Khawaja Adil Maqbool 11-4, 11-5, 11-3 and will meet Egypt’s Andrew Wagih Shoukry in the next round.

Meanwhile, Nasir Iqbal won against home boy Mohammad Reza Sadeghpour 3-1.
