PESHAWAR:

The Imamia Rabita Council in Peshawar will hold a protest today (Friday) against target killings and the failure of the police to arrest those responsible.

The procession will begin from Kucha Risaldar behind the Qissa Khwani Bazaar. “We have not disclosed the destination of the procession yet,” said Imamia Jirga Press Secretary Muazafar Akhunzada. He said the procession is being arranged by the Council and a large number of men and women are expected to participate.

Akhunzada made it clear that his community will not end its boycott of the current administration until concrete steps are taken to stop attacks against Shias.

“Our boycott will continue despite the fact that four of our activists and leaders have been arrested and imprisoned for one month under section three of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.”
