Pakistan to support Afghan govt: Gilani

PM says Regional Economic Cooperation Conference an important step towards bringing prosperity to Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani promises to fully support the afghan government in ensuring both peace and stability.

The prime minister was hosting a lunch for the Afghan President Hamid Karzai at the PM House today (Thursday).

Gilani said the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan was an important step towards bringing prosperity to Pakistan, adding that the two countries have great relations.

Touching upon the floods, President Karzai said the Afghan government will completely support Pakistan at this tough time. He concluded with the words that the prosperity of Afghanistan and Pakistan were interlinked, hence the tragedies of both the neighbors were also shared.

Karzai on Wednesday said that terrorists do not come from outside but are rather originate from within the two countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He also said that his country is ready to take action if provided evidence about elements using Afghan soil to carry out activities against Pakistan.
