The body of a woman was recovered from a drain here on Wednesday. Police said the deceased’s brother shot dead her husband few months back.

According to the police, they recovered the bullet-riddled body of a woman from a drain near Kosir Masjid. The body was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, where the deceased was identified as Bakht Bibi, wife of Riaz of Shunglai village.

Police said Bakht eloped with her brother-in-law (husband of elder sister) Haibat Khan and married him. Khan, after marrying Bakht, divorced his first wife, a mother of four. Meanwhile, Bakht’s decision of marrying Khan infuriated her brothers, who lodged a First Information Report against Khan for abduction of their sister. Later, Khan was arrested and Bakht was sent to Darul Amaan in Abbottabad.

About nine months back when Khan was bailed out from the jail and was returning home, Bakht brother Ibrahim Khan shot him dead minutes after stepping out of jail and attempted to reach out to Bakht in Darul Amaan but failed.

However, after the murder of Khan in the name of honor, Bakht got married to Riaz of Shunglai village. On Tuesday evening, the locals spotted the body of Bakht and reported to the police.

Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi, the mother of the deceased woman accused Niaz Muhammad, Javed and two others including Khan’s father for the murder of her daughter.
