Gearing up for elections: Awami Tehreek changes name

Awami Tehreek has changed its name to Qaumi Awami Tehreek.

HYDERABAD: The Awami Tehreek has changed its name to Qaumi Awami Tehreek and it will nominate its candidates to 12 national and 27 provincial assembly seats.

This was decided in a two-day meeting chaired by party president Ayaz Latif Palijo.

At a press conference at Palijo House on Tuesday, the party’s Abdul Qadir Ranto, Syed Aalam Shah, Imran Samoon, Advocate Abrar Abro, Noor Ahmed Katiyar and others said that they would hold a Mohabat-e-Sindh Sujagi rally on February 16 in Hyderabad.

They want to take up the Sindh Peoples Local Government Act, the Supreme Court’s orders on Karachi violence case and the Election Commission of Pakistan and corruption.

A delegation will also attend the Awami National Party’s all-party conference on February 14 in Islamabad.
