Tennis: Das cruises into second round

Sherbaz Malik overcmoes Faizan Hanif 6-4, 6-1 in the men’s singles qualifying matches.

KARACHI: Vinod Das, Mustafa Tariq and Sherbaz Malik claimed victory as they cruised into the second-round of the Subhe Nau Tennis Championship 2013. Das defeated Sikandar Hayat 6-2, 7-5, as Tariq outplayed Abdullah Khan 7-5, 6-3. Meanwhile, Malik overcame Faizan Hanif 6-4, 6-1 in the men’s singles qualifying matches. In another match, Ayaz Khan and Changez Khan also progressed in the tournament as their opponents failed to show up at the KMC Stadium. In the under-14 boy’s first-round, Bilal Imran Loya beat Amin Shafi 6-2, 2-0 as the latter conceded to Loya due to exhaustion. Umair Tariq outplayed Muhammad Dada 3-6, 6-3 (10-2).
