DERA ISMAIL KHAN:

A suspected militant was arrested and explosives were recovered during a raid on his house in Madina Colony, DI Khan on Monday.

According to a cantonment police station official, police raided the house of Ahsan, also known as Sana Baloch, and recovered a magnet bomb, two remote controls, a receiver box, a battery terminal, two electric detonators, 65 ball bearings, two AK-47 magazines, 30 bore pistols and several bullets.

The suspect has been moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation, the official said.

Separate cases under the Pakistan Penal Code were registered against him.

House destroyed

Meanwhile, a tribesman’s house was partially destroyed when a bomb exploded in Dera Town.

A loud explosion occurred outside Haji Ameer Ahmad Jan’s house at around 5am, destroying the main gate along with Irfan Shaheed Street’s primary sewerage pipeline, said Rescue 15 in charge Shah Jehan Khan.

Police and rescue workers rushed to the site after the explosion. No loss of human life was reported, but the sewerage line and house gate were badly damaged by the impact of the explosion, said Khan.

Ahmad told the police that his rivals had planted the bomb in the sewerage pipe outside his gate. He filed a report against 13 people at Dera Town police station and claimed the explosion was motivated by a land dispute.
