Two people were injured when a police mobile was attacked by a hand grenade in Nishtarabad Chowk, GT Road on Sunday evening.
Police was on its routine patrol when unidentified men threw the grenade on their vehicle. The police mobile caught fire, critically injuring sub inspector Imranuddin and driver Abbas Khan. Residents helped them out of the vehicle in time and shifted the men to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
Witness Nasir Khan, a bus driver who shifted the injured to hospital, said the wounded men were bleeding heavily.
“We do not know the exact nature of the attack,” said SHO Hashtnagari Gohar Khan, adding that the bomb disposal squad (BDS) had been called for inspection. BDS officials had not ascertained the cause of the fire till this report was filed.
