SSUET to take 1,800 students in 2011

The university will take around 1,800 students in different disciplines of engineering.

KARACHI: The two-month long admission process at the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has started and the university will take around 1,800 students in different disciplines of engineering for their new academic session in January 2011, said SSUET registrar Shah Mahmood Syed.

Students with 60 per cent marks in HSc pre-engineering, general science and pre-medical will be eligible for admission to BS electronic, computer engineering, bio-medical, telecommunication and civil engineering departments, said Syed.

He added that students having 55 per cent marks in HSC pre-engineering and general science groups will be eligible for admission to computer science department only.

Last year, around 1,500 students were granted admissions and laboratories have been upgraded to accommodate more students.

The last date to submit application forms is October 29, which will be followed by an admission test on November 7 while interviews will be held between November 8 and 12.

Successful candidates can deposit fees by December 13 while classes will start from January 10, 2011.There are scholarships available for students with financial constraints, said the vice-chancellor.
