Foiled attempt: Kidnapper gunned down, boy recovered

NOWSHERA: The police foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered a boy and his vehicle, while shooting down one of his alleged abductors in Sheikhano Kallay in the jurisdiction of Risalpur police station. SHO Risalpur, Ishaq Khan said they were on routine patrol early Friday morning when they were informed of a gang of kidnappers trying to abduct a person for ransom. Consequently, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. “When the kidnappers spotted us, they opened fire, injuring sub-inspector Muhammad Khan severely, and escaped to a nearby sugarcane field,” said the SHO. He added police surrounded the entire field and opened fire at them in retaliation, killing Mehran, a resident of Kheshgi Payan, while his accomplice Hassan was apprehended along with weapons. Police recovered Shaukat Jamal, a resident of Hayatabad, along with his vehicle.
