Us Programmes: Training for Afghan refugees

Important that Afghans develop skills: US.

ISLAMABAD: The United States is funding several programmes to help Afghan refugees during their stay in Pakistan and upon their return to Afghanistan.

“It is important that Afghans develop skills that allow them to earn money for their families and educate their children,” said the US Embassy’s refugee coordinator in a statement issued on Wednesday. “The US government offers a variety of training programmes that help refugees become self-sufficient during their stay in Pakistan and continue to support them when they return to Afghanistan,” he said. In 2012, the US government provided over $2.5 million to 17 skills training centres in different refugee areas in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
