Shahrukh’s medical examination has been done under scrutiny of police personnel and and a carefully chosen doctors’ team.
An anti-terrorism court had earlier directed the medical superintendent of Services Hospital to constitute a medical board to conduct Shahrukh’s ossification test on January 17.
The previous medical report was rejected as police surgeon Dr Jalil Qadir was not eligible to pronounce Shahrukh as a minor between the age of 17 and 18. Dr Qadri was then presented a show-cause notice and he fled the scene thereafter.
It was then announced that Professor Junaid Ashraf, Principal of Dow medical College, will head the board. Medical examination that took place today was headed by Dr Farhat Mirza and the six-member board included Dr Tariq, Dr Taqqi, Dr Saba, Dr Muzaffar and Dr Hamid Ali Paryal.
Inspection of hair and teeth has been done to determine Shahrukh’s ‘much-debated’ age. A large number of police personnel were present throughout the procedure.
After the medical examination, Dr Muhammed Taufeeq spoke to media and said Shahrukh underwent six X-rays; he was escorted back to jail after the examination.
The medical board will again sit on Saturday at 10:30 am. The investigation officer is required to submit documents, bone tests and Shahrukh’s physical report to the medical board on Saturday.
Shahrukh will not be required to attend this meeting.
Shahzeb, the young son of a police officer, was shot dead in the upscale Defence neighbourhood of Karachi on December 25 over a petty dispute.
Prime suspect Shahrukh, who had slipped away from the country to evade arrest after the murder, was brought back by the police after he was deported from Dubai. He was identified as the alleged killer by the witnesses during an identification parade.

@numbersnumbers: That's just it - they were :) And whilst there may be MANY things in Pakistan that are corrupt - in Australia they aren't! Why are you judging this kid like he's actually a Pakistani? He's an Australian by education, and raising - he was just born there, and his family live there - but that doesn't make him a "Wadera" or a "killer" - cuz he's neither.
It i very sad that a young guy killed. This case should be interesting because in Pakistan Might is Right, and in this case victim belonged to a Police family.
High ranking Police officer versus Vadera. One with stronger connections will win. Justice is usually never served.
Why to hide his face when everyone knows his face? Is it another poor fellow forced to play his role or a kaka sipahi fulfilling the media demonstration?
Much as I hate to say it, The only people who can deliver justice to this case and break the hold of these Waderas are the Taliban
Why the burka?
If Sikendar Jatoi is a real Muslim, feel himself a true leader of his community and Tribe. He should himself announce that his son is killer, should be punished.
This time he has handcuffs and a chaddar on him, I wonder why? All previous time he walked confident as if he was walking down an aisle to receive some bravery award and hand in hand with the police officer. Also, what must the Principal of Dow medical College would be going through now. He is in deep trouble if he goes with the truth or the other way around.
@ John the Baptist,
You are right. If they are blowing the bugles every now and then, then where is the transparency in hiding is his face?
Definitely there is some one else behind the hidden face!
Why do they suddenly have his face covered? Is it because there is someone else under the chador who is below 18 that they will present to the "board"?
All newspapers, including ET, had published pictures of his passport CLEARLY showing his date of birth when he was hiding in Dubai a few days after the murder but now no one is willing to to re-publish them. And we know why--all these cowards are in the same game!
The depth of abuse of power has reached a scary height in Pakistan. As a citizen, I shudder in fear for our children living in this lawless jungle ruled by pure, unadulterated evil!
This is the power of wadehras. Birth certificate, documents, school records, ID cards, passport used on previous trips out of Pakistan etc are not required. There is no way the feudals would let him be convicted as that would set a precedent which they are worried about. Tax payers money being wasted?
I would wonder why his birthdate was not on his passport application, drivers license, school/college application or birth certificate????
Dr. Qadir should be arrested. EACH AND EVERY ONE who is obstructing justice in this case should be tried under law. Hopefully, this will positively reform the system for the better.
More Board members, more chances for ruling him a juvenile. What will happen after that?? Change the Judge?? No way will Jatoi be charged as an adult. The sky will fall first were that to happen.
