Speaking at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, Shah lauded the positive role his party played in the parliament and provincial assembly.
“It is a great omen that a democratically elected government will complete its five-year constitutional term,” he said. The PML-N has always stood against attempts to derail democracy.
Shah criticised the incumbent coalition government, however, for failing to address key issues, including energy, unemployment, and inflation. “No serious efforts were made to ease the miseries of the people in the last five years.”
Industry growth is slow and the current leaders have broken all records of corruption, he added. Foreign investment has substantially declined because of the poor security situation and existing industries are moving to other countries because of energy and gas shortages.
The situation in Karachi and Balochistan is going from bad to worse and the government has failed to expose the forces behind targeted killings. PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif is the only hope left for the country and our party is fully capable of steering the country out of the current crises, Shah added.
Shah welcomed provincial minster Saeeda Batool into joining the league, which he said reflects the people-friendly policies of the PML-N.
Earlier, Batool had formally announced joining the PML-N and said she was impressed with the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif. She further said the PML-N is the only political party and does not compromise on its principles.
