IVS annual show: It’s never late to collaborate

Over 60 IVS alumni formed 27 groups to work together for the annual show.

The alumni of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) may have gone their own separate ways after graduating, but some of them have come together to show the magic that can happen when you get created juices flowing.

The artwork of the institution’s alumni is on display at the IVS gallery as a part of an exhibition titled ‘Collaborate’. The former president of the IVS alumni association, Muhammad Imran Khan, said that this is first time that a theme has been set for the art show. “When we took the initiative to organise the first alumni show, we just wanted to bring everyone together and so we didn’t set a theme,” he said. “This is the fifth show and the organisers thought it was time to make people collaborate under a neutral theme, without imposing control on the creative process.”



Over 60 people formed 27 groups which worked on the 48 pieces on display. Some of the work depicted fond memories of college days. The installation ‘Chai with Nusserwanji’, which comprised hanging tea kettles with sketches at the bottom, reminded the alumni of the times when they sat together over a cup of tea and had long, animated discussions.



The artwork will remain on display at the IVS Gallery from till February 16.
