KARACHI: Tando Allahyar police traced a 20-day-old infant, Kareem Sabir, who was kidnapped during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on February 1.

“We were able to trace the kidnappers, Urooj Amjad and her husband, with the help of photos obtained from CCTV cameras installed at the hospital,” Nazimabad SP Zafar Iqbal Malik told The Express Tribune.

The culprits claim that they aren’t criminals and kidnapped the baby only because they hadn’t been able to conceive in a long time, he added.

The baby’s father, Sabir, is a rickshaw driver and lives in Mehran Town, Korangi.

The culprits, who were caught in Tando Allahyar, are being brought to Karachi for further investigation.
