Winter spell: Temperature drops to 9 with rainfall across city

Met office forecasts two more days of rain.

PESHAWAR:

The city received 14 millimetres (mm) of rainfall on Sunday, dropping the temperature to nine degrees. The rain spell is expected to continue for the next two days.

Meteorological Office Director Mushtaq Ali Shah said there would be two more spells of winter rains in February.

“There is no chance of flooding, but persistent rainfall could result in incidents of roof collapse in the suburbs where most houses are made of mud,” he said, adding that it’s likely to get cooler.



Apart from Peshawar, there was rainfall in other parts of the province too with Malam Jabba receiving the highest amount of rain, 21mm, followed by Saidu Sharif 19mm, Dir 15mm, Bannu 11mm, Parachinar 10mm, Patan Kohistan 5mm, Balakot 3mm, DI Khan 4mm, Chitral 3mm, Kakol 2mm and Kalam 2mm.

Galiyat snowfall

Snowfall and rain lashed the Galiyat region too. There was slight rain around 11am in Galiyat and rest of the Hazara division, followed by snowfall after 1.30pm.

Galiyat including Ayubia, Khanspur, Ghora Gali, have received 2.5 to 3 inches of snow. Although the drizzle simultaneously kept melting the snow it is still expected to rise by a foot.
