‘Kidnapped’ woman sent to shelter home

RAWALPINDI:

A woman recovered after six years was sent to a women’s shelter on Sunday after a court found her mentally unstable and unable to record a statement.

Magistrate Raja Faisal Rasheed directed the Airport police to take Nadia to a women’s shelter and produce her on Monday for her statement.

A police officer privy to the case said that in her initial statement, Nadia said she eloped with Ashfaq to get married. Her family had registered a kidnapping case after she vanished in 2006.

Nadia, daughter of a retired Rawalpindi police official, was recovered from Lub near Wah on Saturday. The police also took her husband into custody.
