The three-day Roots Teacher Development Conference 2013 for the training and human resource development of Roots Millennium Schools staff from across the country concluded at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Sunday.
The conference was organised by Roots National Institute of Teacher Training and Education (RNITTE). The seventh annual conference was based on the theme “The Millennials: Confident, Connected, Open to Change”.
Over 450 delegates from different regions participated in this conference along with some of the world’s leading educational speakers, academics and progressive thinkers.
The main aim of this conference was to support and invigorate classroom teaching with new ideas and energy, new texts and techniques, new content and connection and conclude its effectiveness in meeting the challenges of 21st century.
The panel of speakers on Sunday included School of Leadership Director Umair Jaliawala, Intel Education Initiative Pakistan Project Manager Khadija Bashir, Roots Millennium Schools Director Anna Faisal, Roots Millennium Schools CEO Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq and Teacher Development Centre Director Abbas Hussain, who was also the chief guest.
The third and final day commenced with the energetic Jaliawala leading an energetic session, which aimed to bring the best practices to life in every classroom by having entrepreneurial thinking in education.
Mulazim Hussain received a lot of appreciation for his music and lyrics. He received plenty of applause and roars of joy from the audience. Later in the session, master trainer and keynote speaker Hussain gave an interesting lecture about student voices and leadership in the transformation of modern-day schools.
South Asian Strategic Stability Institute Director General Dr Maria Sultan stressed the need for impeccable pedagogy which caters to the needs of today’s competitive market and then investigated the case of collaborating for opportunities in a networked world and the impact of globalisation on schools, student, classrooms and role of teachers.
