ISLAMABAD:
The Norwegian government will provide Rs90 million and train Pakistani folk singers and craftsmen in Norwegian art schools and universities in 2013 and 2014.
Lok Virsa Executive Director Khalid Javaid said on Saturday that the grant will be given to them for a new project they plan to begin in a month.
He added, “Apart from being trained at the best art schools [in Norway], the folk singers will also get a chance to perform there.”
He said the training will help promote our national heritage. Javaid said Pakistan is enjoying close and friendly relations with Norway as the latter is providing financial support in various fields including education and health.
The proposal of the new project, he added, will be drafted soon, with practical work expected to begin by the next month.
