Officers on deputation: FIA given time till Mar 5 to reply

Petitioners objected to “untrained officers” being inducted in the agency on deputation.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday extended the stay order it had issued at a previous hearing against postings of officers in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on deputation from other departments. At the last hearing the FIA director general had been directed to submit his reply on the matter. On Tuesday, however, the agency’s counsel requested more time. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah accepted the plea and adjourned the hearing till March 5 besides extending the stay order. Some FIA officers had filed a petition saying that all officers serving in the agency should be familiar with the investigation process. They objected to “untrained officers” being inducted in the agency on deputation. They asked the court to declare the induction of officers on deputation illegal.
