Pay raise : APCA to protest country-wide

BAHAWALPUR: All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) has announced a country-wide protest from Monday to demand pay raise. The protesters gathered on Fareed Gate Chowk. APCA Secretary General (Punjab chapter) Fakharur Rehman Azhar said that the federal government had broken its promise. He said the government had announced in June 2012 that pay scales will be revised in January 2013, but had not backed out from their commitment as they had yet not been given any raise. The protesters demanded that their pay scales be upgraded immediately otherwise, the 2.2 million family members of the affected workers across Pakistan will surround the Parliament House in Islamabad. In Lahore, APCA protesters gathered in front of Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi’s house in Gulberg.
