Trading Activities: Customs asked to simplify procedures

Pakistan Customs urged to improve transparency in its operation, reduce processing time for import, export documents.

Pakistan Customs acknowledged for playing important role in smooth conduct of cross-border trade, prevention of smuggling and other illegal activities.

ISLAMABAD:


Pakistan can become a major trading country by simplifying customs procedures and regulations and at the same time there is a need to reduce rates of customs duties to give a boost to trading activities in the country.


These remarks were made by Zafar Bakhtawari, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), on Saturday to mark the International Customs Day.

Chief Customs Collector Nadir Khan Hoti and Customs Collector Imtiaz Ahmed Khan were present on the occasion.

He acknowledged that Pakistan Customs had played an important role in the smooth conduct of cross-border trade, prevention of smuggling and other illegal activities.

However, he asked the department to improve transparency in its operation and reduce processing time for import and export documents as per international standards with the help of latest technology and modern processing methods.
