Reds boss Brendan Rodgers said he was hoping to complete ‘one or two new signings’ and it appears Coutinho could follow Daniel Sturridge into Anfield.
Liverpool are also keen to sign Blackpool midfielder Thomas Ince and Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Butland before the January transfer window closes.
