LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday admitted for regular hearing a petition for a ban on dual nationals serving as bureaucrats or in the military. The petitioner, Khalid Mahmood, submitted that both bureaucrats and military men dealt with highly sensitive issues and sometimes secret information. He said that after retirement, such dual nationals could settle abroad and disclose the sensitive information to other countries. He sought a ban on bureaucrats and army men from acquiring dual nationality. He also asked that any serving officers who had dual nationality be stopped from continuing in their jobs. The next hearing has been scheduled for March 20.
