PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar on Tuesday announced that Rs6 million, as monetary compensation for families of Bara tribesmen killed in Khyber Agency last week, has been released to the political agent of the agency.

Talking to a representative jirga headed by MNA Hameedullah Jan Afridi and PPP Fata President Malik Waris Khan, which called on him at the Governor House, Kausar said the political administration has been instructed to take necessary steps for holding another jirga.

This jirga, he added, would discuss the possibility of reopening the Bara bazaar. Kausar said he was shocked by the incident and asked tribal elders to come forward and join hands with the government to promptly restore peace in the area.
