PESHAWAR: Lawyers from the district bar association observed a strike and boycotted court proceedings over an assassination attempt on additional sessions judge, Ihtisham Ali on Saturday.

They condemned the attempt and demanded the government provide security to the lawyers and judges and immediately apprehend the culprits. Ali, who is also the son of the former chief justice of the Peshawar High Court Ibn-e-Ali, was shot by unidentified gunmen who opened fire at him after he left home in Hayatabad. Ali sustained injuries and was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where his condition is now stable.
