India’s imposing seven-wicket win over England in their third One-Day International (ODI) drew forth profuse praise from captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, according to The Times of India.

Dhoni commended his bowlers for restricting the tourists to a low score and defended his decision of not giving his most experienced bowler Ishant Sharma the new ball.

“(Bhuvneshwar) Kumar and (Shami) Ahmed can move the new ball and they are our best bets in the first 10-15 overs,” said Dhoni. “On the flip side, Sharma gets more bounce. So even if the ball is old, he can be effective.”

Meanwhile, England captain Alastair Cook rued his side’s recent batting form.

“It’s frustrating when you don’t play to your potential and we were punished for that,” said Cook.
