Tribal areas: Local Govt Act extended to Pata

According to order, approved by the president of Pakistan, Local Government Act 2012 shall be enforced in Pata as well

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Barrister Masood Kausar on Friday issued orders to extend the powers of the local government to the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (Pata). A press release issued by the governor stated that according to the order, which was approved by the president of Pakistan, the Local Government Act 2012 should be enforced in Pata as well. It added that the Malakand division, which has seven districts including Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Swat and Chitral, should also fall within the jurisdiction of the act.
