The authorities said that Qadri violated the oath stating that he was not allowed to enter the country he had sought asylum from.
According to Express News correspondent Shakeel Anjum, Abdul Shakoor Qadri, otherwise known as Tahir Qadri, had sought asylum from Canada in 2008, fearing threats to his life after he met with the Danish cartoonist responsible for making blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Qadri, through his lawyer Mendel Green, had requested that he was receiving death threats from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-e-Sahaba.
On October 17, 2009, his asylum application was accepted, while he was issued the Canadian passport about six months back.
The MQI chief has also been receiving welfare funds from the Canadian government, citing health issues.
Qadri, who led a 5-day long march in Islamabad which concluded Thursday evening, is currently present in Pakistan.
He is scheduled to fly back to Canada on January 27 along with his family.

Dr. Qadri will be asked by Canadian authorities to render exolanation for his recent activities in Pakistan. If authorties are satisfied with his explanation, Dr. Qadri will enjoy the benefits offerred to Canadian. If not his residency status will be revoked. You are not prevented from leaving. In US, Canada, and UK there are no immigration officers at departure. Only at arrival. A condition for any asylum is that you will not return to the country you are taking asylum from.
I have a friend who took asylum in US back in 2008. He came to Pakistan for his mother's burial, when he went back he was arrested, there was a hearing, he explained that his mother passed away, but they revoked his application, and deported him.
There is one condition in which you can go back. For example people who came from Iraq during the time of Sadaam Hussain can go back now as the government has changed. Russians who came to the USA during the Soviet era do go back as the Soviet Union is no more.

Your report is baseless and does not conform with Canadian Law. Once you get citizenship in Canada nobody would ask you where are you going and why are you going. Even if he said he was not allowed to enter the country during Asylum hearing, it does not clings on indefinitely. Canadian Citizenship has nothing to do with Asylum. Once you get Asylum, you cannot get citizenship. You apply for Permanent Residence(PR). During the Permanent Residence you do not take oath based on your application in Refugee Board.
The qualification for PR and citizenship is driven out of Asylum Application. It has different parameters. Once you get your PR you can apply for Citizenship. Again you do not have to mention your asylum in citizenship oath. All the three are different stories. Secondly, it is not Pakistan where police will go after you based on a speech in some developing country. The matter has to do with Immigration Ministry not RCMP. No Canadian Media reported such story. The major Canadian media was positive about Qadri's peaceful protests. You do not even bother to quote any credible sources or contacts.

Besides, there is no rule that one cannot visit the parent country after taking the passport even though it was taken through asylum. The news have not quoted any Canadian source except mentioning the name of the department.

3- The basis on which he acquired the Canadian Nationality was not the Political Asylum.

@Aijaz Haider: RCMP never allows or disallows anyone, just like Pakistani police does not have the authority to stop you from travelling to any part of the world. If you do have a travel document, i.e a passport of a country, no one can stop you from travelling to your country of origin. Infact that is the place that you are deported to whenever you violate the laws of another country.

RCMP does not unilaterally stop Canadian from travelling anywhere. Unlike Pakistan where people do as they prefer, RCMP could only stop Qadri if he was under arrest or if a court order directing his stay in Canada was issued.

I applied for Canadian immigration too.
I was told that if based on medical examination I am declared to have any life threating disease Canada won’t even give me immigration visa. This is to discourage anyone who wants to move Canada to avail free medical care available only to Canadians.
Secondly they also discourage new immigrants to receive welfare. If you receive any welfare your Residency can be terminated or Citizenship can be denied/delayed.
So how come he was given the residency and then Citizenship.

The agency that monitors cross-border traffic in Canada is Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CCIC), not RCMP. When the Maulvi Sb. returns to Canada, it is the CCIC that will investigate and process him for whatever charges that he is found guilty of, RCMP will only spring into action if he is investigated for criminal charges.
Based on ET's report, his case looks pretty straight forward and his citizenship could be revoked in addition to repayment to the Government of Ontario for any welfare benefits he might have received by misrepresenting the amount and sources of his income which could also have tax implications. His expendtiure on "Occupy D Park" movement apparently cost billions of rupees, where he got these monies remains unknown,information that could be of interest to Revenue Canada.

This Article does not make sense to me. How come he got his Canadian passport before getting permanent resident (through asylum). After asylum is approved, once get permanent resident not a passport. I think author got the facts wrong.

It is not the role of RCMP to allow or disallow anyone from leaving the country. Traveling outside Canada was not a crime against which he needed to be stopped.

Shame on the Government that entered an agreement with a person who defamed Pakistan by seeking asylum in Canada. Shame on all political parties, establishment and judiciary that supported Qadri against the government. It is hard to believe that no one knew earlier that Qadri had sought asylum in Canada.
Mr. Qadri, Good luck 'negotiating' with Royal Canadian Police. Hopefully you will now spend a few years in Canadian prisons for immigration and welfare fraud.

I ask this guy: What did you achieve in the end? Government dissolved? Pakistan's problems over? Corrupt are now, saviours of Pakistan? The Islmabad declaration doesn't really change anything Rather, it might make things worse.
