KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) bench, headed by Justice Maqbool Baqir, has directed the police to submit a progress report on the hunt for a missing education official, Abdul Jabbar Dayo. Dayo, a district executive officer, has been missing since January 1 after he was whisked away along with his driver by some men allegedly wearing police caps near the Federal Urdu University. His brother Ghulam Sarwar filed a case against the police, anti-corruption and Rangers authorities, claiming he went to the Aziz Bhatti police station to lodge a case but they refused. On January 2, the SHC had directed the relevant authorities to bring the missing officer to court. On Tuesday, DSP Hussain Ahmed Nasir told the judges that Dayo had been kidnapped by unidentified men. His driver, Zafarullah, has been rescued and efforts are under way to find the education officer also. The case (FIR 5/2013) has been registered, he said.
