A sizeable quantity of banned and outdated medicines was seized from a private clinic, authorities said on Monday.
Drug Inspector Tausif Tanoli said that they raided City Polyclinic, a private clinic, on public complaints and checked their stock.
They found one carton of banned drugs in Pakistan under the pharmacy law. Another carton was filled with expired drugs. A third carton contained medicines that were donated to Pakistan by a donor agency for the 2005 earthquake.
He said they also found that the staff members handling the drugs were unqualified. The authorities sealed the clinic and sent a report to their superiors for further action.
A staff member, asking not to be named, said they had put aside the expired drugs in the carton to be sent back to their manufacturers later.
He insisted that the drugs were not being sold to customers.
