PESHAWAR: The Pohang SM Hospital of South Korea is planning to build a physiotherapy hospital for rehabilitation of people affected in disasters in the province, stated a notification on Monday.

The Korean hospital is also going to donate a sports therapy machine and laboratory equipment to the Biotechnology, Pharmacy and Chemistry Department of the University of Peshawar (UoP).

The announcement was made by Pohang SM Hospital Director Dr Kim Jin Eui who met UoP Vice Chancellor Professor Qibla Ayaz along with a four member delegation. Dr Kim said South Korea would provide the equipment to UoP in compliance with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently signed between the two institutes.

The sports therapy machine will help treat injuries, said Dr Kim.

The hospital will also provide free treatment to students and faculty members of UoP. The treatment would be provided upon a recommendation by authorities at UoP, he added.

Professor Qibla Ayaz thanked the Pohang Institute and Korean government for pledging support to the university and people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He added that Korea is a foreign higher education centre for UoP research students.
